Please furnish Adam, hymn, Luke, Matthew and alphabet primers for the children. Grant me those pamphlets; do not withhold them from me, but grant them to me. That is my message to you and when these pamphlets are done, [we will] submit the return. That message to you is done. Here is another thought: I weather the wind and storms, I smooth the rough roads, and the high places are brought down so they will see the beauty of Jehovah. Kule - The meaning of this truncated word is uncertain as to whether it is a form of address, month of the year, personal name, or a place. 2. Mi kamalena, a me Mikamalena wahine - Mr. Chamberlain and Mrs. Chamberlain. Levi Chamberlain was a member of the second company of missionaries in 1823. He was the superintendent of secular affairs for the mission and served as a missionary teacher. He married Maria Patton after her arrival in Hawai‘i with the third company of missionaries. 3. hei mene/hei meni - Hīmeni, lit. hymn, may refer to a pamphlet of Hawaiian Bible translations from the book of Psalms or Song of Solomon. 4. luka, akamu, ka pu kana, ka oi hana - Lit. Luke, Adam, Exodus, and Acts, refer to tracts of translated and printed scripture. Adam likely refers to the book of Genesis. 5. hoihoi aku - Lit. return, this reference likely notes the return of money from the sale of pamphlets rather than returning the actual pamphlets. 6.
