He was the superintendent of secular affairs for the mission and served as a missionary teacher. �2. poaha - The Po‘ahā, lit. Thursday, is a reference to the Bible study meetings, held on Thursdays, that prepared one for baptism and membership in the church congregation. 3. Makaio Kekuanaoa - Mataio Kekūanāoʻa, of chiefly descent, was first married to Kalani Pauahi and then to Iosepeta Kīnaʻu.
