Kawaiahao August 27
Greetings to you, Mr. Chamberlain,
Here is my message to you. Write out a sample for me, a handwriting model.
Make a handwriting model for upper-case script, and one for lower-case script. That is
all.

For Mr. Chamberlain
Notes:
1. mikamalena - Mr. Levi Chamberlain was a member of the second company of
missionaries. He was the superintendent of secular affairs for the mission and
served as a missionary teacher.
2. kumu lima - Lit. hand example, apparently hand writing model. Pākī request both
"nui" and "liilii," indicating upper and lower-case script.
3. Paki - Abner Pākī was a high chief in the court of Kauikeaouli at the time of this
letter. He married Konia and was the father of Bernice Pauahi Bishop.
