I have received, given me by Levi Kamalani, thirty-six dollars; these dollars are for Paki
regarding a debt on the part of Mr. Gulick. He had a promissary note that he gave to Paki, but it
was lost, so if said note should be found later it is of no import, because the money has been
obtained. This is the clarifying document.

Notes:
1. Levi Kamalani - Mr. Levi Chamberlain was a member of the second company of
missionaries. He was the superintendent of secular affairs for the mission and served as a
missionary teacher.
2. Mi Gulika - Rev. Peter Johnson Gulick came as a missionary with the third company in 1827
and was stationed in several localities before retiring to Honolulu.
3. Paki - J	&#13;  Abner Kuhoʻoheiheipahu Pākī was a high chief in the court of Kauikeaouli,
Kamehameha III. He married Konia and was the father of Bernice Pauahi Bishop. He served
on the Privy Council, was Chamberlain to Kamehameha III, Assistant Judge of the Supreme
Court, and in the House of Nobles.
4. J. Ii - John Papa ʻĪʻī began his service in the royal court when he served as an attendant to
Kalanikualiholiho, who became Kamehameha II. He continued to serve the sovereigns of
Hawaiʻi until his death in 1870.
