We two report this as follows, Levi Chamberlain provided and we acquired these goods
written above on this document. Here are the goods presented again:
1 small keg of white paint, 25 pounds.
246 pcs. copper, weighing 1776 pounds and
187 3/4 pounds of brass screws.
Considering this debt, we two give Levi Chamberlain, and if not him, then the missionaries
residing in this archipelago, 444 dollars and 34 cents, for one half,

which we shall pay him in cash; and for the other half, being 444 dollars and 35 cents, we will
pay through the transport of our ships, carrying goods or other things the missionaries may
desire.
Notes:
1. Kekuanaoa - Mataio Kekūanāoʻa, of chiefly descent, was first married to Kalani Pauahi
and then to Iosepeta Kīnaʻu. He was a member of the royal court and held important
positions for the Hawaiian government throughout his life.
2. Levi Kamalani - Mr. Levi Chamberlain was a member of the second company of
missionaries. He was the superintendent of secular affairs for the mission and served as a
missionary teacher.
