appropriate for Mailou to bring them. Do express my regards to Clark and the others. If

Notes:
1. Mikamalani - Mr. Levi Chamberlain came to Hawaiʻi in the second company of
missionaries. He was the superintendent of secular affairs for the mission, as well
as a missionary teacher.
2. Mailou - This unidentified person was to be considered for bringing the five
people.
3. Kalaka - Rev. Ephraim Clark arrived with the third company of missionaries.
4. Makaio Kekuanaoa – Mataio Kekūanāoʻa, of chiefly descent, was first married to
Kalani Pauahi and then to Elizabeth Kīnaʻu. He was the Royal Governor of the
island of Oʻahu from 1834-1868. He served as a member of the House of Nobles
and Privy Council, and went on to become the 6th Kuhina Nui of the Hawaiian
Islands.
5. Kauwai - This could be a place name or a personal name.
