Amos Starr Cooke, a member of the eighth company of missionaries who was selected to be the headmaster of the Chiefs’ Children’s School. 2. Kuke wahine - Juliette Montague Cooke, wife of Amos Starr Cooke, helped to run the Chiefs’ Children’s School alongside her husband. 3. ke kumu hou - Ke kumu hou, the new teacher referred to in this letter is Nathan P. Sturgess, an assistant to Mr. and Mrs. Cooke. �4. Kekauluohi - Miriam Kekāuluohi, mother of William Charles Lunalilo, who was attending the school, became the Kuhina Nui (Co-Regent or Premier) of the Hawaiian Kingdom in 1839, taking on the name Kaʻahumanu III. 5.
