The name is Maluihi, a spelling student of Maiao’s and mine in the time when the school building had not been damaged. From that time she has been attending, six weeks in that building. Kamalani - Mr. Levi Chamberlain was a member of the second company of missionaries, superintendent of secular affairs for the mission and a missionary teacher. 2. Poaha - The po‘ahā [lit. Thursday] is a reference to the Bible study meetings, held on Thursdays, that prepared one for baptism and membership in the church congregation. 3. poalima - Lit. Friday, this apparently refers to a regular weekly meetings held by ʻUmiokalani. 4. Umiokalani - Heneriaka ʻUmiokalani is the writer of this and several other letters. Although unidentified, she apparently held a position in the church that allowed her to make recommendations for membership in the Bible study meetings. 5. The last lines of the letter are cut off, obscuring part of the last line of text and what appears to be the attendee’s name below. 6.
