Rose backing fabric faded and white has turned to ivory. Cotton batting, quilted in echo style. Border design applied with fine feather stitching on cut edge; feather stitching outlines binding which is part of rose backing brought to front; narrow edge of white between binding and scalloped edge of design. Binding frayed; rose fabric pieced 22 1/2" from edge of design; white pieced at 31 3/4"; 31 3/4", 10". Stain in lower left corner, insect damage, holes in backing. Andrews Family Collection. Fabric is 100% cotton, design - medium blue; background - white; backing - white; binding - blue chambray; quilting thread white; applique thread blue. Batting is 100% polyester fiberfill. Fabric used for the backgroud and backing are sheets as there are no seams; the blue fabric is laid with a 60" width sewn to a 26" width. Binding is /8" wide. Applique stitches good, quilting spaced 1 1/2" apart. Quilted pineapples at corners. Has "July 21, 1948" embroidered in one corner.
