              <text>Hawaiian, blue/cotton applique on white cotton fabric with wool batting. Pattern is known as Maui Beauty, but donor said her quilt was called Kahului Breakwater. Applique is done with Wa-wae Moa stitching (chicken feet), as was the binding. The echo quilting was done 3/8" apart.&#13;

Repaired (see record) and foxed in places.&#13;
Badly faded and has large brown spot.&#13;

              <text>Though this quilt came from a Judd family member it was purchased at a Woman's Board of Missions auction in the 1950s, so does not have a missionary provenance. Probably made by three ladies in Kohala. The quilt has three repairs on the front which are done so beautifully as to be invisible. Appraised by Elizabeth Akana (see donor file).&#13;
