Notes:
1. Kamalani - Mr. Levi Chamberlain was a member of the second company of missionaries.
He was the superintendent of secular affairs for the mission and served as a missionary
teacher.
2. Paki - Abner Kūhoʻoheiheipahu Pākī was a high chief in the court of Kauikeaouli,
Kamehameha III. He married Konia and was the father of Bernice Pauahi Bishop. He
served on the Privy Council, was Chamberlain to Kamehameha III, Assistant Judge of the
Supreme Court and in the House of Nobles.
3. Keola - The Keola was a ship that sailed between the Hawaiian Islands.
4. Opunui - The identity of ʻŌpūnui is uncertain, but he or she may have been a clerk in the
mission or government offices, having written the receipt for funds from Levi
Chamberlain.
