The Hawaiian Missionary Society was formed to send missions to the South Pacific. The minutes cover financial, personnel and policy problems of the mission to the Marquesas Islands.

Charter, By-laws and Records, 1856 - 1863
Contains sketchy minutes of the annual meetings of the Hawaiian Missionary Society. Minutes of the meetings of the Board of Directors of the Society are also included. The records cover decisions about personnel, finances and policies regarding the Marquesan mission, the ship "Morning Star" and the publications program. The resolution to withdraw the missionaries from the Marquesas Islands is laid in at the end.

Contains copies of letters and other official documents written to the missionaries at the Marquesas Islands. From the Hawaiian Missionary Society, which founded and directed the mission. The letters, which were written in Hawaiian, were translated by the Reverend Henry Judd and the typescripts have been laid in.
