Journal of Kamehameha IV (Alexander Liholiho) and Kamehameha V (Lot Kapuāiwa)

Title

Journal of Kamehameha IV (Alexander Liholiho) and Kamehameha V (Lot Kapuāiwa)

Description

Manuscript journal kept in 1844 by Kamehameha IV (Alexander Liholiho) and Kamehameha V (Lot Kapuāiwa) while they were students at the Chiefs’ Children’s School.

The journal documents daily activities, observations, and experiences of Hawaiian royal students during their education under missionary influence.

*Note: Skepticism exists that Alexander contributed to this journal at all, as he is only ever referred to in the third person. Moreover, the handwriting appears to belong entirely to the same person.
