Hawaiian Flag Quilt: Flags (Hawaiian) surround a central coat of arms (C.O.A.). The C.O.A. is pre-1897 (per Thrum's Hawaiian Annual Almanac). C.O. A. is countour quilted with decorative red embroidery stitching around the applique. Flag quilting is straight, following the stripes. Two different red fabrics used: a brighter red in the center square and diagonal bars of Union Jack; a faded red flag stripes, vertical and horizontal bars of Union Jacks. Quilt top assembled by machine. Binding machine sewed. Cotton and wool.
